The team medalists

2007/08/10   YEC, team competition ended

The team competition of YEC2007 is now finished. Here are the results:

Youth boys:
1 Sweden 1320
2 Germany 1351
3 Czech Rep 1371
4 Austria 1426
5 Finland 1435
6 Switzerland 1488
7 Denmark 1639

Youth girls:
1 Czech Rep 738 SD
2 Sweden 738
3 Germany 759
4 Switzerland 764
5 Austria 812

Complete results could be found on the JEM result site.

The Swedish boys wonn the goldmedals today eventhough they lost 9 strokes to Germany on the first ethernit round today. However they made a good felt round toped by Tim Hansson who made an outstanding 22 round on the felt course, equall to the felt course world record! Germany was 14 strokes better than the Czech Republic today so the wonn the silvermedals.

The German girls started with a very poor felt round that made it impossible for them to catch up with the Swedish and Czech girls. The Swedish team had some problems on the felt round as well and they decided to substitute Louise Hagesjö for Malin Jacobsson after 6 lanes. Malin played good but she ended the round with 7 strokes on lane 18. Even the Czech struggled on their felt round and as a consequense of that and Frida Elmdahl's 26 round the Swedish girls were in the lead by 8 strokes before the last ethernit round. But the Swedish girls made a poor ethernit round so when the last players of the teams came to lane 18 the Swedish lead was down to 1 stroke. Simona Handlová started to play and she missed twice! Frida Elmdahl then had the chance to make Sweden winn but she missed 3 strokes and we had a sudden death situation!

In the sudden death started on the pyramid lane with Jana Nakládalová striking an ace. Malin Jacobsson responded with an ace. Silvie Svehlíková put pressure on Sweden when she stroke an ace and then Emma Löf missed so it was up to Simona Handlová to strike an ace to winn the gold medals for the Czech Republic and she did it! Great play from the Czech girls who came to the championship without substitute player and winn!

2007/08/09   YEC, second day of competition

The second day of the YEC 2007 competition is now completed. Here are the standings in the team competition after 6 of 8 rounds:

Youth boys:
1 Sweden 994
2 Germany 1025
3 Czech Rep 1029
4 Austria 1075
5 Finland 1082
6 Switzerland 1138
7 Denmark 1250

Youth girls:
1 Sweden 548
1 Czech Rep 548
3 Germany 556
4 Switzerland 578
5 Austria 604

Complete results could be found on the JEM result site.

The Swedish boys made an impressive felt round today, 177 strokes! Martin Sjöberg's score 25 strokes is equall with the felt course record. With 31 strokes lead the Swedish team has a good position to winn the gold medals. It looks like Germany and the Czech Republic will fight for the silver medals.

The girls team competition is a really tight match between Sweden, the Czech Republic and Germany. Also in the girls team competition Sweden gains strokes on the felt course. But yesterday the Czech Republic made a very good felt round and if they can play like that tomorrow I think they will winn. The German girls still have the chance to winn but they need to play at their best both rounds tomorrow. It will be very exiting to follow the girls team competition to the end tomorrow!

2007/05/13   Call for EMF organisers for 2008

Dear Members

This is a urgent call for organisers of the European Championships in Senior and General class for 2008. As of today 2007-05-12 there is no organisers appointed and no one even have applied for. The seniors European Championship for 2008 was previously appointed to the Netherlands and Geldrop but they have recently draw back their application due to lack of manpower for organising.

Please investigate within your countries if any club is interested in organising an European Event for 2008. We need answers by the latest of August 20 this year, though rather sooner otherwise we will have to cancel the seniors and general class competitions next year.

If you have any questions about practicalities in organising these events contact our Sports-Director Reinhard Neitzke on his email sport-director@europeanminigolfsport.com.
